Various cubicle configurations

Additional things to consider when purchasing Cubciels

  1. Not all brands are sized the same.

    • Some are true-sized 6' by 6' for example, and others are not.

  2. When measuring for different cubicles.

    • Depending on the brand add panel and connector thickness.

  3. Power in cubicles may come from different places.

    1. Have an electrician check your power and location to make sure you have enough to install cubicles.

    2. Wall-based cubicles which are single against the wall may be used as existing unit outlets and save costs that way.

    3. For wall-based clusters, an infeed is required. This is connected to what we call a panel raceway at the bottom of the cubicles. That raceway has receptacles that are installed in advance so that power runs through and we can plug in our devices.

    4. For cubicles in center space clusters. We use what are called power poles. These poles will go up into your ceiling and in most cases split in 2 on the inside.  One side is for data and the other side is for power DX.  As data and power cables should not touch.  These poles can have an infeed coming out or outlets for small clusters of two.

  4. Panels come in different heights, widths, and Thicknesses.

    1. Panels are as narrow as 18" wide to as wide as 72"  Yet most common sizes are from 24" to 48" in increments of six inches. With these, you can create any configuration that is needed.

    2. Panel highs can go as low as 31" to as high as 96" high. Yet the three most popular heights are 48, 54, and 64-67 depending on the manufacturer.

    3. Panels will never eliminate noise 100% percent. If noise is an issue getting taller panels will help. Whether they are sound absorbing or not the average is about a 70% reduction in noise. Getting a good set of noise-canceling headphones may be a good solution. Especially for call center clusters of stations.

    4. Labor of cost of different panel types may change the total cost of the cubicles. As an example, the cubicle may cost less due to its tile structure but the installation is three to four times in labor cost to install. At some point, people move or relocate those panels or cubicles and have to pay those costs over again.

    5. Trying not to put panels on walls will save cost as getting access to outlets is much easier.

  5. Glass tops on panels

    1. A glass toper makes it a design feature as well as a Decorative.

    2. They come in frames to single pieces of glass or plastic on clamps.

    3. You can do clear, frosted, or painted glass.

    4. Easy to see what employees are doing without inhibiting their space.

    5. It is also a great way to share information without having to get up all the time.

    6. The glass comes as low as 6" to as tall are 24".

  6. Additional ways to save

    1. Buy cubicles at secondary market parts are available. That way in the furniture you will be able to make changes without having to buy a new system. If the dealer can't help then find another.

    2. There are many clone cubicles out there that are cheaper and still use the same parts.

    3. Buys refurbished cubicles - New fabric and new worktops will save a lot of money and time. In many cases will not even know they are used.
